I spoke to one of the agents and willing to pay the payment I owe and asked if I could send half today and half next friday and the girl, I spoke to said, they don't take partial payments, but yet I'm trying to pay them off in good terms and they won't even try to budge or work with me! I told the girl I would send her half payment today and she said, the company won't take it, and they'll just send the my money back. I think that's crazy, because I'm trying to make an effort to pay and at least they would get the money for the debt.

SCS is one of the worst credit agencies I have ever worked with. One woman in particular, "Tiffany," was one of the rudest persons I have ever talked to on the phone. I wanted them to send me a paper statement and I requested it for 3 months with no success.

I am filing complaints with the FCC, the BBB, the State of California, Dept. of Consumer Affairs, and the State Attorney General. I doubt the bill is legitimate but it is small enough for me to pay and fight Verizon/MCI later. This company is terrible to work with.

I made a partial payment to SW Credit. An agent called and told me that was unacceptable. So I said then send it back. He replied, pay in full. I said I don't have a job. He said well obviously you had to money to pay your phone bill or you would not have been able to answer my call. He said I was lying.

Southwest Credit Systems; has been duning my phone for a Keith Thompson for the last yr. I have owned the phone for 3/4yrs now. They have been told and told not to call and isn't his phone. I am going to try sending a ltr signed receipt return. They never send a ltr, because of course isn't his address... They don't answer their phone when I call to try and get it stopped.

I have never dealt with Southwest Credit and never will but I am determined to have somebody's job. I get calls on my work number in GA for someone named Victor Diaz. I called Southwest and tried to get them to remove my number from their database. The witch hung up on me. I found a different phone number for them on their website and called back. After giving them the story, they claimed that my number was removed from their database. That's total BS because I still get calls almost everyday. I have excellent credit and I don't get calls from my creditors especially at work. My job is stressful enough without the added harrassment for some other deadbeat's debt.

SWC calls my cell phone three to four times as day and ask for someone other than me and no matter how many times I tell them to stop calling my number, they won't. When I try to tell them I am not the person they are calling they call me a liar. I just don't answer unknown numbers anymore but they continue to leave me threatning messages. I don't know how to get them to stop.
My phone is charged when they call.

Wow, I'm glad I found this site. For 2 days now, I kept getting voice mails for somebody named Thomas ? (couldn't understand the last name). They would give me a credit ref # as 31624482 and told me to call. So today I called the number and totally got into it with a super rude man. I told him that he was calling the wrong number. He then wanted my cell phone number so he could remove the number. I told him "No" and he got so rude with me. I told him that I wasn't going to give him my cell phone number, not in this day and age where there are way too many scams out there. He wouldn't even accept the reference number to try and cross reference it for me. He even said, look mam, I'm not going to accept this from you and said he was going to hang up on me and eventually he did. I then called back and listened to other options on their phone system. Since I had the reference number, I pushed the button for making a payment. Went thru the first process and they gave me a message that said, if you are not this person named Thomas, press button 1, so I did. I got a different person and they said "Oh, so you are not this person, what is your number" I was nicer about it this time because this person was nicer to me. I told her that I had just got into a yelling match with one of her coworkers and I was ticked off. I told her that I have the reference number and obviously if you have called me, then you have my number linked to that reference number and please remove it. I finally gave in but only gave my last 4 numbers and she right away said, ok mam, thank you very much and hung up. This just happened today, so we shall see if they call back tomorrow. If they do call back. I will be sure to give their number out to everyone and have all of my friends keep calling them and jamming up their phone lines!!!! Good luck everyone out there that really do have debts from this company.

You all have gotten further than me. They are calling me from multiple numbers and not leaving any messages. I have never gotten anything in the mail from them, in my name or any other name, so I refuse to call them back.

I actually contacted the phone company and had the number blocked due to the frequency (4-5 times a day) of the calls

I received several voicemails from Southwest Credit Services. When I called, they were looking for a "gentleman" named John Sousa. I told them that when we first moved into our house, FIFTEEN years ago, we received several calls from creditors looking for a John Sousa. I was trying to help THEM by giving the information I had on this person, and THEY hung up on me TWICE. The third time I called, an incredibly condescending little twit asked me, WHAT DO YOU WANT. Here I am doing nothing wrong, trying to help them do their job, and I'm treated as though I'm the the bad one....go figure?

I am getting home calls on my cell and now at work one to two times a day. Everytime I speak with a woman named "Nancy" she is a complete - C word- for lack of a better word. AND never gives me information as to WHY she is calling me. She says it is debt related but doesn't give me an account or amount... Just wants my credit card info... I feel like she is trying to scam me- but how is this company getting away with doing this? Someone please help!

Wrongful, incorrect billing!

IMPROPER BILLILNG over to Southwest Credit Corportation and they indicated that they will continue harassing telephone calls and other attempts at intimidation in order to attempt to receive payment for services which my deceased spouse did not and cannot use. They have indicated that, since they have not received payment as of today, they plan to publish an adverse, damaging credit report...

I get calls nearly every day for a certain Rhean Yansen (or similar spelling) for the past two years, even though I have had my current phone for nearly 3 years. I have tried to contact them regarding incorrect phone number, but no one seems willing to help.

Almost 2 years ago, I thought I would use Centennial as my cell phone carrier. They had a deal at the time, that you didn't have to be in a signed contract with them, and that you could go month to month with their service. So ir sounded good to me, and I signed up for the month to month cell phone. The first week I had it, I was charged 26+ dollars, the second week, another 50 something, at this point I seen a pattern & decided to pay it off, and never use it again..... Well, I just got a letter staing I owed them almost 400.00. And now I have a debt collector calling me at 8pm on a saturday in regards to this.... if this aint a joke~!!! Southwest Credit System~!!! Looks like I'm going to war with them now~!!!

Southwest Credit has no tact when dealing with people. I requested a paper statement to a fee I knew nothing about. They told me I didn't need a paper statement, but later did receive one. I told the lady, 'You are so rude, I want to speak to your supervisor.' She replied, 'This is not customer service.' Obviously! I called again, a different agent answered, he had the same type of response. I understand that fees have to get paid, which I was willing to do, but they don't have to treat people with disrespect. Not sure how anyone can do that job.

7. February 2011, 04:08

I've got one better for you. I received a notice from them, with what reflected an amount that showed "no" decrease in payments sent directly to AT/T. When I called cust. svc., I CLEARLY heard children playing in the backgroung! Reluctantly, the woman became challenging when I was trying to make sure I had the right number. She asked me about my account info. and put me on hold. After 10 MINUTES, I called back and the "Next" rep didn't sound as if he was operating out of a day care, so so gave my personal info a "2nd time!" When I tried to get him to understand that I had PROOF that mistakes were made on part of the source of that ridiculous bill, I eager to fax them the proof until the rep began to insult my integrity and hung up. I IMMEDIATELY called back yet to receive a 3rd rep, asking for information that I'd given twice prior! When I asked if he couldn't see that I'd called twice within 35 minutes, I questioned "their" reputability... which resulted in a hang up from "that" rep.
The potential for scam artists and identy thieves is 97% with Southwest credit. Keep in mind people; when pseudo-bills comes from one state, yet your money is being sent/processed +1000 miles from the bill's origin, beware!!!

I want to get this out there, I was an employee of SwCS awhile back. I actually left the company because as an honest, honorable, Iraq war vet I was getting write ups everyday because I wasnt "aggresive" enough on the phone. Point blank, I helped alot of people out and my superiors didnt like this. They also treat employees like Kindergarden students. SwCS is not a scam, its a legit collection company. The problem is that SwCS gives amazing bonuses to people who exceed quota. The more aggresive agents most of you have talked to can make upwards of 10k a month! Quotas are usually 25k in collections a month. Anything else after that, 7% of every payment goes towards their bonus. I was constently disrespected in my time with the company. If a manager ever cause you off the phone for more than 35 seconds, you would recieve a write up. Managers are always listening into conversations and talking in your ear where you guys cant hear it. My only friend in the company was fired because she couldnt collect any money because she would always follow the RIGHT protocol and send in paper statements when requested. If yall knew the violations this company was commiting, every one of you could sue and win. This company needs to go out of business. Another thing to add, SwCS is not without acclompis. AT&T is way more crooked than SWC. I feel sorry for anyone who has Uverse because you will be screwed by those guys when you decide to turn in your boxes. STAY AWAY FROM AT&T AT ALL COSTS! If anybody reads this and has any questions, post them up. I'll answer anything I can and give you any secrets I may know about collection agencies.

Southwest Credit attached a collection to my son's name just because he had the same name as my husband. The account was closed 4 years ago and was just placed on his credit. Plan on contacting legal advice for negligence on Southwest's actions. Didn't have a social or any verifiable identification before actions were started.

21. February 2011, 07:54

Lately I've been getting calls on my cell from 888-778-4007. I have not answered these calls since I do not know the number. Today, finally an automated message (in a British accent) left voicemail identifying the caller as Southwest Credit Systems asking me to call back regarding some case number.

Obviously some credit scammer has used my cellphone number in credit fraud given that, 1) this number has been mine for around 8 years, 2) I have excellent credit and owe nothing to anyone except my mortgage payment which I've never been late on ever (automatic payment deduction).

I'm going to call Verizon and see if there is a way to block calls from this number.

Thought I'd post my $.02 after finding this site.

24. February 2011, 15:50

Its not a credit scam, SWC is a legit credit company. A simple google search and youll find them. They are out of Carrollton, TX. Another piece of advice I can give is that SWC gets these accounts from only 1 source, and that source is the account carrier. Verizon or AT&T. So as many crappy people that SWC has employed, it all comes down to you own carriers fault! Goodluck guys! Judy, its not the collection agency thats at fault. After a certain amount of time they have to send your husbands (sons) account back to the client. Whoever that may be (verizon or ATT), they are the ones that report it to 1 of the 3 credit companies. Also know that in the collection business, these companies are VERY deep in attorneys because they are always having to deal with "lawsuits" and 99% of them get thrown out because technically the collection agency didnt do anything wrong. As long as a company follows FDCPA theres really nothing you can do. HOWEVER, if any collection agency calls your CELL PHONE, you can tell them thats its a cell phone, and they are legally obligated to remove that number from their systems permenantly. If they call you again at that number, thats in violation of FDCPA and you can persue legal action. Thats the simplest thing you can get them on because they almost never remove the number out of the system.

Under what section can you referrence the fact that collection companies can not call a cell phone after being notified it is such? Thanks for any help and sorry you had to work for such a horrible company, coming from a fellow veteran.

So they Called Looking for my husband and i told them he wasn't here. They said they were calling about an AT&T bill that my husband still owed i asked them when the bill was due because we haven't been with AT&T and they said it was for last year. So i asked the lady i was talking to where the letter is from their company showing it was at their company and she said that they mailed it out i told her that we have not gotten anything in the mail i asked her to read my address and she only read the number of the house she couldn't even give me the rest of the address i told her to give me an account number and she said that she couldn't do that either because her computer was running slow. I told her that i wasn't going to send anything sort of payment to them till i get a letter from them and she told me to check my mail. I told her that i have been checking my mail and nothing from them so i said i am not going to pay anything until you send me a letter and i asked her again to verify my address she said that she couldn't cause her screen wouldn't allow her to do so. I have worked in collections before and noramally when you get a call or people call you back you are able to pull all their inforamtion up that you have no personal information just the address and the account number and all when i told her i have worked before in the collection feild she said oh and hung up. Well my husband called AT&T and according to them we owe nothing and they DON'T WORK WITH SOUTHWEST CREDIT SYSTEMS.. So if they call claiming they are collecting for them i would first get any information they will give you as well call AT&T and make sure cause i think this Southwest credit systems is a fake but thats just me....

Gary, Former is referring to this section...

(5) Causing charges to be made to any person for communications by concealment of the true propose of the communication. Such charges include, but are not limited to, collect telephone calls and telegram fees.

...which has been interpreted to include charges accrued to your cell phone bill. The language never mentions mobile phones or cell phones specifically.

Southwest Credit services are calling me everyday about an At&t account. I have offered numerous times to set up a payment agreement of 25.00 a month which they declined. So I stopped answering there calls because they are very rude people. Yesterday when they called, I answered and tried again to set up payments. I told the person that I talked to that I have numerous payment arrangements with Hospitals, doctors, etc. Well I was told that I could give the other arrangements 25.oo a month and pay swcs 100.00 a month, So I hung up. The phone they are calling is a cell phone so I will try and get that stopped. I have been hoping they would turn it over to another agency, because most agencies are easier to deal with. Pat W

23. March 2011, 03:22

Most of these tactics I see on here are typical of collection agencies. Put FDCPA in your browser and read your rights as a debtor or not. Once you familiarize yourself with the collection laws you have more power than them. If they are in violation of any of these laws (which usually they are), you have the power now to tell them so and get a lwayer if need be. Lawyers love collection agencies and for the most part win cases. Just a thought. Good Luck

28. March 2011, 03:17

Wow, SW Credit is impossibe! I'm willing to pay my debt off because I want the calls to stop, but whenever I call to set up a payment it's impossible to get through to a human. The first time I spoke with SW Representative (Derek, extension 2295 - call him, he's great), he was very helpful and understanding and waived the $10 processing fee for my first 3 payments. He hadn't even mentioned there WAS a fee. When I called back to schedule further payments, the woman I spoke to was such a bitch and demanded the $10 fee for each payment I set up. I refused to pay the fee; I shouldn't have to pay on paying my own debt off. Furthermore, the lady I spoke to wouldn't accept the amount I gave her to charge me - purposely lowering it to extend my payment plan and milk me for even more future fees!
I don't appreciate being responsible and calling to set up payments and being treated like shit. Obviously it's my fault I'm in collections in the first place, but they have the worst customer service I've seen in a looong time.

I get calls from Imperial Southwest Credit Systems asking for Rebecca. I have told them repeatedly that this number did not belong to Rebbecca but they continue to call me on my cell phone and leave messages if I do not take the calls. They normally call once in the morning and once in the evening and ask for Rebbecca. Sometimes they call and hang up but do not speak anything. Though they don't threaten or use abusive language I get disturbed and get nervous when I see their numbers.

20. April 2011, 03:40

I called the credit services to tell them that I was unemployed, receiving their phone calls, and would pay as soon as possible. I asked about options and tried to explain my situation when the woman I was speaking with became accusatory and began bringing up things on my account that had nothing to do with me trying to pay them. She was very argumentative and, like others, she asked why I could eat and live but not pay my toll fines.

I tried to explain that I had to prioritize and her response was to accusingly repeat "You say you had no money, then you should have driven on different roads" Since this is past, and has nothing to do with my ability to pay now, it is completely inappropriate and rude to judge my actions.

In an attempt to work with them, I asked if there was anything I could do if I could not pay them in full, right now. Her response was "No, either you pay now or you get fined again."

My assumption is that the company treats their employees poorly and they take out their frustrating jobs on those with debt because it is easy to feel superior.

Those in debt are in sensitive positions and are usually working hard to make ends meet. Hopefully this company can work out their issues and learn how to deal with people in a positive and worth while way.

In my eyes, that woman's time and energy was completely wasted. Nothing was accomplished and I now have negative feelings towards the company I need to pay.

AMBER said: 'Well my husband called AT&T and according to them we owe nothing and they DON'T WORK WITH SOUTHWEST CREDIT SYSTEMS..'

That simply isn't true. SWCS do buy debts from Verizon and ATT, its 100% an absolute truth

26. April 2011, 02:35

The only thing that I have to say is that I was RIGHT and they were WRONG and now I don't have to pay . The company that turned me over to Southwest waved the entire fee and now I don't owe them anything !!! So in your face ;)

I have told this collection organization numerous times that the person they are asking for does not live at the phone number they keep calling.
I have called the number that showed up on my caller-Id and asked them to stop calling my phone number looking for this person. My most recent incounter was today 24 May 2011 @ 11:50 AM. The person that answered the phone was rude. I will call the BBB and the Federal Credit Counsel group and report this organization. I will also report them to legal groups.

not to add to my experience with southwest credit system, i call back to speak with a manager or supervisor well the girl i was speaking to kept apologizing for the way the rep. spoked to me but kept stating that they had sent out forms in the mail. i asked could they send something certified so to make sure i get it, and all the girl would say is no we cant do that but you probably got it and threw it away. this place has pissed me off. and still would not let me speak to a manager or supervisor. so i will call att and discuss this with them, i have no problem paying this debt but times are hard and its not gonna be all at once. but i refuse to deal with this collection agency. sorry i needed to vent. tina

I keep getting collection calls for someone by the name of Sam Marrero. There is no one here by that name. My wife and I have had this telephone number for over ten years. This Sam marrero had our number before we did. When I got someone live on the phone, they refused to give me the full name and address of the company. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, they hung up. I've filed a formal complaint with the NYS Office of the Attorney General. My caller ID shows SW Credit @ 888-778-8213. Dennis

Okay so I've never heard of this agency before. I've NEVER borrowed from them! But they continously call my cell phone asking for somebody I don't know! I've told them countless times to stop calling me b/c they've obviously been given the wrong number! But yet they still won't leave me alone! My service provider won't block numbers they only suggest that we change them but I've already had to do that once already b/c somebody kept trying to fax something to my previous phone repeatedly. I shouldn't have to change my number anyway just because people like this want to be stupid! I'm really getting sick and tired of dealing these people that I don't even have any business with!

Southwest Credit Systems frequently dials debtors cell phones using an automated dialer. This is a direct violation of the TCPA laws and would be easy to prove with a simple discovery request once you have been called. They blatantly disregard this law and choose not to flag numbers as cell phones.

This company has THE MOST RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!! I sent a letter asking for an invoice of what I owed. They swore they never received it. They won't stop calling my cell phone and when I do call to work things out its an immediate attitude and talking down to me. I will be filing a complaint with every agency that will listen.

EVERYONE: If a collection agency does NOT identify themselves, does not read you the mini Miranda, harasses you in any way (racial slurs, curse words, etc.) OR threatens to seize your assets, have you arrested, etc. you CAN take them to court! This company has had SEVERAL lawsuits brought against them. I am in the middle of one now. They didn't read my dad the mini Miranda when he called, & when he called them back to get their info to take them to court, the rep hung up. It didn't phase them one bit. They are horrible!

I get calls from them for someone I never heard of on my cell phone. Here's how you deal with them--call them back on their 800 number and ask for the same person they keep asking for when they call you, in my case, Maria Veltran. When they say no one by that name works their, tell them, well, they don't live here but you keep calling me for her and won't stop, so neither will I. Get friends to call, and if possible, we all call at the same time to overload their phones. Keep it up and they will eventually stop calling you--it worked for me.

This company called looking for a Terry Smith. That's my nickname not my legal name. I use my legal name on all my accounts. So I knew they weren't calling for me. I called them and they asked to verify my address, birthdate and last 4 of SS#. I responded not even close. I'm not sure if they were looking for a male or female. What this and many ohter collection agencies do is go through the phone book and look for anyone with a name close to yours. With a last name of Smith I get it all the time. I've had the same phone number for 45 years. They were rude and hung up on me.

28. July 2011, 21:33

You said it.These people are actually making me contemplate if I should change my homeline number, which I had forever. They called me for a person with the same middle name.We actually have the family surname for a middle name.I told them the same thinking it would help.
But no, they were super rude and their attitude outrageous-
This is the number 800-462-3894.I've tried calling them directly and told them its the wrong number, they say they have no clue about why I was being called seeing the database.
Speaking to them=speaking to a wall.
Now, I'm getting recorded messages in a different accent each day! This is the last straw!!
How will this stop?Any ideas?

Southwest Credit, an abomination. Every day I get a call from their automated system looking for someone that does not, nor ever has, been at my phone number. Calling them to try to get my number out of their automated system is an exercise in futility. Twice they just flat-out hung up on me while I was in mid-sentence. They really could care less. I wish I had the time, the power, the money, to aggressively go after this company and get it shut down.

3. August 2011, 23:55

OMG!!!!! This is mind blowing. This company has been calling me for over a year for someone named Rachel. I informed them several times that they had the wrong number and that I have had my number for over10 years. They keep doing it. I ask for a supervisor and they will not allow me to speak with one. I even said I was Rachel. The rude young lady said this persons address real fast. When I asked her to repeat it she said part of it then hung up. I called them back and harrased her. I googled them and find this site. I can't beleive that others are having the exact same problem. I will see if the BBB can assist. This is nuts.

4. August 2011, 07:17

Can the BBB help?Even if we file complaints, they are eventually getting shut down. About a year ago, a cell phone account was opened in my name "without my knowledge".I came to know about it only recently when I was handling my account for a home appliance. I canceled the account immediately and asked them about this. They say I have to pay it without hearing to what I was saying. The person I spoke to said he was the Manager, hardly seemed so considering he was extremely rude. The thing is I do not have any problem resolving it by fair mains. But, why do I have to go through an ordeal?I wouldn't want to pay for something that I have dealt with at all. Anyone have this kind of experience?

5. August 2011, 04:08

Can BBB stop the pshing and the fraud? Watch out for the credit card scam from this company - I got calls from either 1-866 or 1-855 once a day starting about a week ago. I answered one today to see who it was, and the person identified as Southwest Credit System and asked me to give him my credit card number for a closed phone account two years ago. I called the phone company, and they said everything was paid off there was no such balance.

Not sure if someone is using this company's name or if this is another way to pfish additional credit card accounts. Be ware such calls.

This company keeps calling my phone and leaving voicemails for someone else every day, it is a recording of a woman with a British accent. I managed to answer the call one time and chose the selection for "this is not me", but they keep calling anyway. Once I tried to call the number they left on my machine but I had to go through a long automated phone tree that ended up asking me to leave a message. The voicemail box was full and wouldn't accept messages. I have reported them to the FCC do not call registry and I hope they get put out of business because what they're doing is against the law.

6. August 2011, 03:40

I got a call from them and they didn't leave a message. When I tried to call back I got a recording saying the call couldn't be completed right now. Makes me thing the call was some sort of scam. I am pretty sure I have no deliquent debt with anyone. It is very annoying.

6. August 2011, 07:51

I had a call from these people today. Not even to my number it was on my moms phone. After researching the company and finding this site I am wondering where this debt supposedly came from. I had AT&T recently and have cancelled my account 2 weeks ago the bill isnt even due yet. I have never had verizon. Plus if this were for the only account I have ever had with these two companys wouldnt they have my number (yes its on file) not my mothers. I plan to call them today but I know I proably wont get dar bc I will not give my personal info.

I just saw my credit report on FICO. The reports are through Southwest Credit. What is up with them giving it every week? There aren't any deletions until now, even though I've been paying, I'm really worried now looking at these comments.I'm in two minds about the payment. Is SW even legit?

12. August 2011, 05:32

I was told how much I owe per month and have been paying almost triple that for 2 loans. All of the money has been put on one of the accounts and none on the other account. I called them numerous times to get this fixed. Still messed up. This is a terrible agency!

Chris

13. August 2011, 06:35

Three months ago, I checked my credit report and there were two collections from southwest credit.I sent them a debt validation letter immediately. No response. I waited for two months and sent two letters afresh. Its showing up on my credit report-neither paid or unpaid. Now, what irked me is I got a letter from an unknown agency(I dont know if its for real)stating they can repair credit/deletions on credit report etc.,First off, how did my info reach them?and why would I "fix" my credit like that without validation? How do I proceed with this?

Fleur

18. August 2011, 09:55

You can just ignore this 'unknown agency'.It might have gone through the collection agency. However, regarding the credit report, try contacting them directly and asking about it.The original creditor can also help out with this. Debt validation is important. You have every right to ask for it. Unless, you get it, there's no reason to make any sort of payments.

This company called from #754-816-1398 wanted my mailing address. Said they were from Southwest Credit. Would not tell me what it was about because they were not sure who they were speaking to, but called me by name. I told her if she could not tell me what this was in reference to and since I have no credit debts, therefore no collection agency should be calling me and she hung up.

Cindi

20. August 2011, 02:49

I recieved a phone call today, and I am a little concerned. I offered to pay the bill if they would provide me with an address to mail a check or money order or even do a bill pay. I was informed that I have to do it by phone either check, debit card or credit card. I am unfortable providing my information to someone over the phone in addition by paying any of the other three payment ways I can include a memo in the note paid in full, just incase it results in putting on my credit. Does anyone have any suggestions. Can I just mail a payment to the address listed on the website? I have never heard of such a thing, even my attoreny said don't give them anything over the phone. I have never dealt with any company so rude. The first person I could barely understand and the second well she was just rude.

Thank you

Jennifer

22. August 2011, 06:02

Just who are these stupid fucks? I like most of you do not know why and for what they are calling about.
Sounds like they are a collection agency for telephones. If I cancelled Verizon service because the phone they sold me was just to hard for me to understand. So I took it back and told them to cancel everything. But I bet the SOB never called and or terminated the cancellation fee. Half baked bastard said he would get all taken care of. So If that's the case i am being charged $150.00 for a friggen phone or service i do not want. They want payment if this is the case it will be $1.00 a month. If they refuse that then they can consider it paid.

Cindy

23. August 2011, 04:20

Tina,
Please DO NOT pay through phone. You've informed them that you'll pay up via checks or money orders-which should be just fine. There are numerous cases where the bank accounts are swiped clean with the social security numbers/personal information etc.,Please obtain the proof of your payments once you do, or even better-confirm your debts with the credit company you owe directly and see if you can pay them directly. In any case ask for PROOFS.

John K

23. August 2011, 04:29

Cindy,
Try talking directly with Verizon. Unless they cancel the service to your phone, these people will keep hounding you. If you haven't been using it since you bought it, tell them and ask them to terminate it immediately. In any case if its canceled, Southwest cannot keep contacting you for debt.

John K

24. August 2011, 01:15

I hate this company.Southwest Credit. They call me allll the stupid time, at work, even when I sleep.Several people here have complained how rude and obnoxious they are with their verbal threats and assaults.First he calls me at work, says oh ok ur working, how much can u pay up.Told him I was the wrong person. Then Mr.Freak calls at home when I'm asleep and says he's trying to keep me from being reported to the credit bureau.Asked him to leave me alone. He tells me people like me are the reason for recession in the country.Yeah, at this point there yelling from both sides on the phone, and he hung up.If I ever behaved the way these people do at work, I'd be fired for sure.

Random numbers and random calls going on I guess?
Here's my story.
I received a call from SW credit that I had delinquent debt with AT&T for over 175$.The person wanted me to pay it right then with a credit card or check. Since I had my doubts about this being legit, I asked for the account and phone number of AT&T, which I was given. A few months ago I has an account with At&T which had already been closed and I was sure I did not owe any money on the acc. I called At&T to verify the claim. The rep checked my old records and billing accounts and told me there was no outstanding debt.I got calls again but Im paying no heed to them.See what I mean?Total fraud

Southwest Credit Systems calls me every day, multiple times a day, to the point where it is interfering with work and my personal life. I owe them nothing, I know nothing about them, they aren't even calling me, they are trying to call 'Thomas Snowden'. I have told them for over a year (since August of 2010) that my number is mine, not 'Thomas Snowden's. This doesn't stop Southwest Credit Systems from harassing me multiple times a day. I've completed their automated system, I've spoken with them, I have even called them back to try to get help. Southwest Credit System Representatives are unprofessional and uninterested in clearing up the mess they created. They are rude, abusive, and down right mean spirited. They REFUSE to stop calling me. I don't know what to do. I don't owe them money. I am not Thomas Snowden, I don't want them calling me day and night, I've lost work and sleep because of them. I've filed with the FTC, the BBB (The BBB gave them an A+ rating if you can believe it! Makes me think to not even bother checking the BBB if they give companies like this an A+ rating.), and my state's Attorney General's office. I hope those agencies put a stop to Southwest Credit System's abuses - but judging from length of this forum, I'm worried the abuse will never end.

I cant believe the amount of complaints!!!!Im in a similar situation. I lived in Rhode Island for effing sakes!! Shifted to Texas and BAM! calls from Southwest credit systems for a Ryan Coder for a wireless account every darn day. I really want to know how to stop these calls.Telling them to stop calling didnt work.

Ronald

30. August 2011, 16:38

While FTC can help out,(they take action if they receive a large amount of complaints).I highly doubt the BBB ratings. Something tells me the ratings are not genuine. There are complaints on BBB as well!! The best place to start is with the complete understanding of the FDCPA. If you are the wrong person, by law, they are required to stop contacting you at any cost. A few golden words that worked:
"Thank you for calling. Do I have a contract with your company? (they will say they are calling about xyz bill). That's not my question. Do I have a contract with your company? Don't ever call again."

"Thank you for calling. I was not expecting your call and I'll need awhile to look up some helpful information. Would you please hold?" (Don't wait for their answer. Put the phone down and walk away, if they call multiple times, do it multiple times, or tell them not to call and hang up).
IF they don't stop calling even then, you can send a cease and desist via certified mail +requesting return receipt(do not give out any personal info).

"Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am requesting that you cease all communications with me about this alleged debt. This debt does not belong to me. This letter is being time stamped via Certified Mail and I can confirm receipt. I will pursue each subsequent phone call from your office with a $1,000 per incident penalty for Fair Debt Collection Practices Act."

I'm guessing after that the phone would stay calm.Even then if it doesn't read this out to them:
"Pursuant to [your state] state law, this is to inform you that this phone call is being recorded. If you do not consent to being recorded, you need to terminate this call. Pursuant to [your state] state law, continuation of this phone call after officially being informed that it is being recorded implies consent to be recorded. This recording will be used to pursue Fair Debt Collection Practice Act violations in a court of law".

I have been receiving calls in my cell for over a year for someone who I don't know. They are so stupid at SWC that when I told them I didn't know the person, they said could I tell them where he mght be reached, really? What are they getting paid $1.50 and hour? The attorney general of my state is being notified of this offense.

I just spoke to a guy from SCS who was extremly rude and obnoxious. He demamded i pay my bill off now and told me not to pay my house payment or pay my electric bill and pay them instead. Is this company for real? I have never been talked to in this manner. How can companies stay in business with this kind if employees? I called back and talked to a manager, I told her about this guy and she would review the tape. REALLY! After reading some of the complaints here I know nothing will be done. I am going to complain to the Better business bureau and the FDCPA!!

Im not in any credit trouble thank God but the previous resident of the house I now own apparently skipped out on a lot of debt. Many collection agencies have done reverse address checks and as a result have my name and numb.
Nobody I repeat nobody has been as rude and obnoxious. I just got off the phone with "Mark" at an extension. These ppl are off their rocker,My calls end when he keeps me on hold and then hang up on me, In an other call asked for my SS number. In the umpteenth call only I was informed the name and address of the company.
After repeated attempts they finally said they'd remove my number from the database. NO instead they call next morning.I told them I'd be taking legal action if the calls did not stop. Im waiting if theres been any effect to it.
Goodluck to those people who really owe them money.Bad enough without debts.Geesh.

25. September 2011, 10:45

When I returned SCS's call to figure out what the payment was for I told him I couldn't make the payment right away but I wanted to call back later to pay. The guy actually REDUCED my payment from $157.38 to $91.21. He also gave me his working hours, telephone extention, and name. For a bad situation it's actually going pretty smooth. I have nothing bad to say about the company's service.

josh

2. October 2011, 15:43

I highly doubt they are legit..they told me they were calling for a past due balance for an At&T phone.Thats funny cos Im using it right now.I pay my due every single month correctly. If it was in collections from the past few months they would most certainly turn it off!I asked to speak to the supervisor and the person talking to me refused and said he cant do that. What kind of a place wont let you talk to a supervisor?Dont waste your time with these people. What can I do to make them quit calling???

Amanda

6. October 2011, 08:31

Ok, I have been in collections for many years, I know the collection world in and out. I ask for itemize statement and he laughed. I mean who really does business that way. Well, I was told to call the client(Att)... Oh how bad is that. A collection agency cannot provide media(validity) of the debt. Educate your self when it comes to collections. Know your rights as a consumer, but always make the call to them... You can control what happens and how you pay your bill. Just like you can when your behind on anything.

What is the statute of limitations on debt in Arizona?

Rick

11. October 2011, 03:57

Rick the statute of limitations for credit card debt in Arizona is 6 years.

Senior collector, thats a very valid point. A debt validation is a debtors right and any collection agency should give it if asked for.

Has anyone started a class action suit against
AT&T AND Southwest Credit Systems ? AT&T is about
the most screwed up company I have ever dealt with and Southwest CS and their unjustified harassment
needs to be stopped. Maybe taking a big chunk of money out of both of their pockets will help. I'm
ready to sue, how bout you ? After 20+ years as an
AT&T customer I will NEVER utilize them for anything again.

Rich Heminger

13. October 2011, 13:05

AT&T Sucks.
So does Southwest.
I was a customer with AT&T and always had a good record with the bills.Payed them all and payed on time.I had a few encounters regarding the service for which I only got rudeness and got hung upon many times. I then changed my wireless to another network. I called the CS reps and asked them to terminate the service. To which they AGREED. There was a last month payment that I mailed and informed the rep who stated that it would be noted in the account(But was refused an itemized statement)Months later I'm called by Southwest credit for the bill I already payed and three months overdue amounting to $356.I called both At&T and southwest hoping to get an answer and asked why it was sent to collections considering my bills are paid and I dont use the service anymore. At AT&T they refuse to acknowledge the errors.I told them I have proofs of my payment and calls. They said the same line"its our policy" etc etc.At southwest when I asked them if I'm talking to the customer service they said"You are not a customer, you are debtor who has bills to pay".
Really?
Correct me if Im wrong where does my mistake arise in this case?

17. October 2011, 14:29

Horrible people. This man who called from SW credit told me he could call me 8 times per day as per The Fair Debt Collection Act and that he could say whatever he wanted during the calls. Just yesterday I asked him if his next plan was to kill me to which his reply was "Yes I am". I called my original creditor to see what was up. Turns out my fax line had not been payed as we moved and they didn't have the address. I even straightened out the issue. I payed up what was owed. Every penny. Now I dont want to be bothered with nasty calls. I'm going to attempt to replace my number. Oh and just FYI the number listed in their address never answers. Guess they cant handle what they give to others.

Done Dealing

19. October 2011, 07:22

We had been getting calls on our cell phones at 8 am for the past few days, my wife finally answered one, it was SWCS calling about a debt to Comcast, which we no longer have an account with, and we closed it with in the "30 day money back" program. I have a receipt for all the equipment returned as well. So when she told them this they insisted we still owe them and need to deal with SWCS. my wife hung up. I took the receipt to the local Comcast store to clear this up. Comcast said we don't owe them anything. So I called SWCS back, they pulled up my "bill" and it was for Comcast, so when I told them I just spoke with Comcast they hung up on me...

All you people out there swearing out here take a moment to think about the debts you owe. Why do you run away from the debts that you made? How will the economy run if debts are not repayed? Is it that you just want to take money and cry harassment when its asked back?

Debt collectors won't have to call if you pay up promptly. They call wrong numbers allright but thats because there are loads of people sharing the same names, heck even last names or misplaced numbers.

The minute everybody pay their debts, there will be no more debt collectors, no more collecting agencies. The only way to make them shut up is to pay what you owe. If they violate the FDCPA report them. If you owe, don't vent, think how sooner you can get out of it.Plan your finances.

25. October 2011, 02:48

I received a call from Southwest Credit System. the bill owed went from 700 to 1000 dollars. I ask how that happened and she said that the add on was a fee. Then she said she would wave the fee and wanted half payement right away. I was trying to explain my situation and the lady I talked to became very rude. I told her that I would pay the bill and that I could only send so much. She said, on a 900 dollar bill. I said that is all I can pay each month. She said that is was not acceptable that I could pay more and I said how can you tell me how much I make and how much I can afford to pay. She then hung up in my face.

They called me five times. Ten times I told them Im not Earl. Then I devised this-
I repeatedly called them and let them talk as much as they wanted to.
I diverted the topics unrelated to debts.
Im just out of college so called them in the afternoons asking if they wanted to chat.
Told them I was just out of prison.
After almost about a week the calls stopped.Yeah they did.
I asked for the supervisor and got a direct line.I harassed the hell out of him.It must look like im the harasse here for a change.LOL. They deserve this.

5. November 2011, 11:20

My case began with being provided false/erroneous information by AT&T, while making a deal to purchase a phone and data plan. AT&T charged bogus charges which wound up being around $1000.00 (and keep in mind that they closed the account, without me confirming to do so) and sent the account to Southwest for collections.

Needless to say that after initially hearing from them once every 2 weeks, they started calling every day, and hanging up on me the second I began talking stating that the charges are false and that I really owe only $155.00

Southwest reps were not professional at all, and they still call almost every day, 4 months after the problems began. Today I answered their phone call for the last time and during the weekend I plan to file a complaint against them to the Better Business Bureau.

Had a run in with them.

The language they used and the attitude they exhibited was so far off I thought it was a joke.

I demanded to talk to the in charge, They already quoted an incorrect social security number and now they claim they have a recording of me saying it and hung up.What the?

I called back to ask for clarification. The person claims nobody from the number called me,After two days the calls started again. This time I asked to talk to the supervisor. Now their better side came out. She screamed "who do you think you are talking to..."Guys, stay away from this company or whatever they claim to be.

24. November 2011, 01:22

They fail to provide any proof or documentation of the alleged debt.
They violate every Fair Debt Collection Law
They pass off themselves as attorneys(which looks fake as one talk says they are ignorant)
They do not provide, when requested any proof that they are licensed to act as a collection agency or attorney.
They are constantly abusing and threatening.
They call at work even after being told in writing and verbally NOT TO.
What are we as consumers supposed to do to protect ourselves from things like these??

I am a former employess of this company, and I can tell you first hand that while their collections practices aren't the worst in the industry, see Nationwide Recovery Systems, they do try to walk the edge of legallity in order to collect as much as they can from the debtors they call. They are regularly in the practice of telling their employess not to break the law, but will look the other way for employess who bring in more money. In other words the more money you bring in the more likely the owner and management of the company are to look the other way if you cross the legal line. They treat their employees like dirt, I myself worked for them for almost a decade and the last three years of my employment I didn't receive a raise. It got so bad that I was literally going broke trying to continue to work for them. The company has changed hands only once during it's thirty plus years in business, and the current owner is such an awful human being that he forced out the manager of operations who was working for them when he took over, he bought out his partner because he didn't agree with the way he wanted to run the company, and his financial backer has now left him flat. If you are receiving phone calls from this company I recommend looking up and studying the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, which you can find here; www.ftc.gov/.../cre27.pdf. Then once you have caught them in violation of the law I recommend calling an attorney, telling them what they did, what part of the law they violated, and then let the attorney do the work. You'll get a nice little payoff for it. They will normally settle all violations of federal law out of court via a $1500 to $2000 payoff depending on the severity of the violation.

I've been receiving calls from this number every two weeks or so. They also called my job!and they are looking for someone thats not me. When I tell them that, the Loony person says as long as he has my number he'll keep calling. Talk about walking the edge.Is there something that can be done about this company?Just want them to stop calling.

This company is horrible to deal with. I travel a lot for the NEW JOB I have. I may have missed the letters that they sent to the house. I requested them to resend a letter to me for my records and they refused. They are rude and arrogant. I am a former debt collector. And the practises they have are violations of FDCPA. I urge everyone to read up on it. And contact your attorney as soon as possible. DO NOT LET THESE GUYS GET AWAY WITH THAT CRAP.

I think I got further than most people on this issue. Southwest credit systems called me saying I was sent to collections by AT&T and hadn't paid my bill since june and i was sent to them ( a third party collection?) at the beginning of july. They told me the last 4 of my social and my address and i said it was correct. They then told me that I owed $440.00! I told them I was going to call AT&T because i have proof that I made a payment in july and why in the world would i have gone all the way to a third party collection in less than a month anyway? They told me not to call AT&T because they wouldn't speak to me anyway since I had been sent to collections. They said if I sent them my bank statement showing that I have been paying, they would update their records and get back to me with my updated balance. It's a good thing I had lunch with my mother in law before faxing my statement because she thought it sounded fishy and looked the company up online and found out they were scamming me. I then called AT&T and they told me that I had no balance with them and they had not sent me to collections or anything. The only information I provided them with that they did not already have was my birthday. Thank God. I filed a police report and put my bank accounts on alert. BEWARE PEOPLE!!! They definitely 100% are a scam!! They may be also trying to accomplish identitiy theft while they are stealing from you!!! make a police report!!

SW Credit Systems and I have been going round and round for years now - 5 to be exact. Yes I did have a debt that I was supposed to pay; however, not my fault: apartment burned down to the ground due to faulty wiring in a mircrowave installed in the apartment (in a high-end LUXURY apt complex). The apartments required me to pay to break the lease when I left the complex, even though they didn't have a replacement apartment for me. Go figure.
There is this gentleman named 'Orlando' that felt it was in his best interest to call my home, work, cell, and MOTHER'S cell (how he got that number I have no idea??) on a regular basis 8-10 times a day, EACH!
I was in the process of fighting with the insurance company, the apartment complex, the management company, and the manufacturer of the microwave that decided to blow up while I was out of town on business.
Needless to say, he was unweary in his attempt to collect the $27 that was owed to SW Credit. Really? $27?? Was it really worth it Orlando? I would have paid it the first time you called if you hadn't been a total ass to me!
Hope you enjoyed your 5-year hunt...
Thanks for your time!

Oh and by the way I was trying to be very nice to Southwest people when they called more than eight times a day. But they turned to be real jerks read animals so I had to hang up. I dont imagine you can get very far in collections without being disrespectful I dont take it personally that they want their money but when its not your money STAY OUT OF MY PHONE.It was a debt that I payed in 2008. How horribly rude can a person get when I tell the same. When they keep calling, I said fine send me the debt validation letter if you say Im lying. But they just keeeeep calling.

Show me one debt collector who would genuinely prove they are to collect for the original creditor. In many cases debt validation is not provided when asked for. If someone showed up on the door asking for payment we'd ask for proof, I say do the same for debt collectors. Ask for validation.Only way to shut them down. Yeah.

This company calls my cell phone and job everyday looking for someone thats not me. When I ask her not to call she told me she will call as long as she had the number. I told her numerous times that she had the wrong number and person. Is there something that can be done to stop them calling?

SWCS called yesterday concerning a bogus account in the amount of $3400. They said someone initiated the account on January 15th of 2010. NOT TRUE. I'm sending a letter, but if they don't lay off I'll sue them for harassment, fraud, or whatever I can. Their BS should be against the law!

They called me, my workplace, family members for a debt I already settled with AT&T for way over a month. Who else is left now?Ah my neighbors. They asked for the proof that was paid. Fair enough we sent the receipt that we got from AT&T. As if thats not enough they are now hounding me for the bills. They need to track down their records for the receipt sent not me.Im tired of telling the same thing over and again and they are calling everyone I know like a chain reaction. They never left a message once on my number but leave only absolute rude messages on my sister's number. I believe them to be a huge scam. Why else do you want to collect on debt thats already paid?I will gladly send a cease and desist order.

When I pay off a debt I always pay w/in 3 months. I never pay off full b/c I want to show that I can make payments. If the company is not willing to work w/ me there some you can do according to the Fair Credit Act. After they deny your payment suggestion, you express at the time this is the only way you can pay off the debt and according to the Fair Credit Act since they are not willing to work w/ these arrangements all contact shall cease and desist. Once you have stated this they have to stop all communication with you. You should send a certified letter as well. Debts are sold every year after Feb to different collection agencies. So you'll have a year to save that money and pay it off with a different company.

Here are some web sites and if they violate ANY of these you have a right to cut off all contact. Make sure you send a certified letter. Also is helps if you record the conversations but make sure you state that the call is being recorded.

Good luck.

I have my own grievances about SWCS, but want to talk about how I have found some resolution. Please take the time to read this. It should help.

My problem first started when my account was switched to AT&T after they bought out Alltel (June 2011). I was quite dissatisfied with AT&Ts service, so I transferred to another company. Once I did that, I encountered a series of surprise charges, all of which were sent to collections since I was too upset to pay them. However, once collections began calling, I called up AT&T and resolved the charges with them. It took a few phone calls and a sweet and happy tone to do it, but I was able to pay my bill and settle the account.

To my surprise, collections called again saying I still had outstanding charges from AT&T. The agent said that AT&T opened an additional account when I dropped their services and never notified me. I just couldnt come to believe that. Finally after numerous phone calls and arguments with collections, one agent gave me the account number in question. I then called AT&T back, had the agent review the situation with my previous account, and then gave her the account number that collections was still calling about.

How I got so lucky to speak with such a kind agent, I dont know, but bless her heart. She did find that account number and informed me it had been cancelled, in 2010!! She took time to read thru its history and found that it had been sent back and forth to collections and Alltel(Oct - Dec 2010), and after some time of no action, it was written off as a nonpayment. It is now 2012 and the calls just started about this account that has been written off. That means I now owe nothing.

The AT&T agent informed me that once I entered their system, all of my account activity from Alltel followed, as well as the account that was never paid. My accounts history obviously followed me, and it alerted collection agencies that it hadnt been paid, but not that it has been written off. I received a letter from Nationwide Recovery Systems in Aug 2011, and SWCS began calling in Dec. By law, they cannot collect on accounts written off for nonpayment. I will now search my credit report for that write off and will procede accordingly.

My advice: Gather all of your patience, I mean all of it, and do some investigating. The next time SWCS calls, do your best to get the account number, and then call AT&T and calmly tell them that you need to check the status of that account. The more patience you have with them, the more information they will give you. You may be surprised what you find out, along with the answers you need.

Good luck

At&T and Southwest are in arms I tell you. Each have their own ways of tormenting. Perhaps they work together. Southwest call me asking if I would like to make a payment then and there. I talked to At&T asking about my account. My contract should be over in August last year. But they did not cancel it saying I was late in my payments twice. Whatever I ask they say this does not apply.Apart from the promotion letters they send there is no proper response. I placed a complaint already. Southwest is no better either. When I try to explain they only yell. How I get out of this is just past me.

SWCS has been daily calling my work phone from various numbers. It is always a recording saying they are attempting to contact an indivial who I don't know, and to the best of my knowledge, has never had this phone number. I have had the number for nearly 10 years. If I push 1 (I am the individual) or 2 (I am not the individual) all I get is a recording telling me to call them back at an 800# and they give me a file referance #. I have called them back on 3 occassions and spoken to a very rude individual who never lets me finish what I am trying to tell him. All he says is my number will be removed from the system and to have a nice day. Well, I am still getting daily calls. Today I called and he assured me the number would be removed. I tried to ask him how he knew what number to remove and all he would say is have a nice day. NEVER, on any of my calls to them, have they asked for the file number or my phone number. I understand that he probably knows the phone # from the caller ID but that apparently means nothing because, as of this morning, my number is still in their system. Bottom line is that if I get one more phone call from him I am going to notify the State Attorney Generals office and the BBB.
