NACM Heartland Unit Inc. representatives have been calling me for the last one year for someone whose name is similar to mine but with a different middle name. My name is Donald Trumpe and they call for a Donald Rogers. I informed the callers that this number and address belonged to me for many years. They agree not to bother me but start calling again after a couple of months. This is the pattern that has been going on for the last one year. I want to get rid of this harassment.

I was called repeatedly at work by a Heartland group who stated they represented another agency they said I owed money to. I did not remember this debt and asked for more details that were not correct. This man called my work threatening to deliver papers. I asked him to please come because I wanted to look them over to see who I owed money to. He gave me a number to call. He called several times this one day and then started to call my boss who was quite upset. His demeanor was yelling, cussing and my boss hung up on him as I had. He calls her back and continues. It was quite horrible as I work for a state agency. I called the number and I had supposedly owed them about $300 from 10 years ago that I cannot remember. This man's name was Terry Burke if that indeed was his real name. Heartland told me he was not an employee but a "contracted processor" when I told them how he acted and calling my boss harrassing her as well. I would like to know what recourse I have. I did give them my credit card number to make them stop as they threatened to start up his pursuit again if I did not pay them $300. None of this seems legal.

Ok the first thing everything can be dealt with apart from giving a third party agency your account information like the credit card number here.
Never ever give personal information, especially on phone. Before you know the account might be swiped clean. They have clearly used scare tactics and threatened you for pursuit just so they can obtain any info they can. There are three violations here.
Them calling you at work-they CANNOT do that
Threatening to start pursuit even though that might not be the case-Most agencies say so
Yelling and cussing-at work that too
You mentioned that the debt is over 10 years old and you are not even sure its yours.Check up on previous documents, if you do owe the debt.Even if you do the statute of limitations in your state would have expired.
www.yourcollectionrights.com/.../...-Statutes.aspx
Caution:If you accept you still owe the debt or if you make a payment towards it that would reset the limitations.
If you do want to know more on the debt you can send them a debt validation letter. You have the right to get proof of your debts-from whoever it is.If the calls continue, please contact your state attorney general, they would give you a better alternative
